DGS Online Driver Safety and Policy Training Program 

The Department of General Services’ Office of Fleet Management Services (OFMS) is pleased to announce the opportunity for state employees to participate in an online Fleet Driver Safety and Policy Training program. This program offers training in general vehicle safety, as well as OFMS Policy and Procedures. The course outlines the dangers of driving and what a driver can do to avoid them. Also, provided is information about what a state owned vehicle can be used for and other significant differences of operating a state owned vehicle versus operating a personal vehicle.

The online training is being offered to all state vehicle drivers through the Commonwealth Knowledge Center. Once the course has been added for your agency, users can access the course by typing ‘Fleet’ in the search field and navigating to "DGS/Fleet Driver Safety V1.0".  The Office of Fleet Management Services manages the Commonwealth's centralized fleet of approximately 4,000 passenger-type vehicles.  More than 175 state agencies and institutions use these vehicles for official state business.

 The office administers, monitors, and enforces all rules and regulations regarding the assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, and replacement of fleet vehicles.  Additionally, it handles accident reports and a variety of citizen inquiries.

The OFMS Vehicle Management Control Center (VMCC) call center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  If you lease or operate a state-owned vehicle please call 1-866-857-6866 for emergency roadside assistance, vehicle maintenance and mileage reporting.
