Mail Security Overview

The Office of State Mail Services uses modern mail security processes, equipment and training of staff to protect state employees and state property. The OSMS mail center is a secure, access-controlled building with the capability to X-ray and safely examine suspect pieces of mail or packages.

OSMS ensures all mail security staff are well-trained in basic security procedures, recognition and reporting of suspicious mail, proper use of personal-protection equipment and response protocols. Staff members receive regular, ongoing security training and loss prevention training to stay current with the latest mail security programs and trends. OSMS also conducts pre-employment background checks for all incoming employees for further security.
